Blogs that would be useful to my Professional Development
I feel that if I was able to effectively use blogging sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, I would be able to connect better with other professionals. I would hope to cross paths with teachers and adults with similar professional interests.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you in that if I felt I could use the 2.0 Web tools effectively I could have a variety of communication tools to increase my knowledge and teaching ablility in my profession. Especially if I can get my high school students engaged in classroom activites, the learning curve would increase.
ReplyDeleteLynette raises a good point about engagement. These tools can be engaging for students, but even more importantly is what we ask them to do with the tools. I've seen teachers and librarians start blogs and get little student interaction. Unless the students find the project or topic of interest, they won't post just for the sake of posting. It all goes back to raising the level of thinking required by students and making the tasks as authentic as possible so they'll immediately see a real world application. The web 2.0 tools can assist with that as they can facilitate communication with the real world both to gather information and to share ideas.
